POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist volleyball team dominated the Rider Broncs from start to finish Saturday at the McCann Center, sweeping the Broncs 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-8). The Red Foxes hit .308 for the match while holding Rider to an .043 hitting mark. Alexandra Schultze (Austin, Texas) and Joanna Foss (Northville, Mich.) each had nine kills to lead the Marist offense.

Lindsey Schmid (Austin, Texas) added six kills and three service aces, hitting .556 for the match. Libero Emily Brosky (Whitehall, Pa.) led all players with 11 digs and is now seven digs away from 1,000 for her career.

Marist (11-9, 5-4 MAAC) took advantage of a couple Rider errors to start the set, going ahead 5-3. The Broncs got kills from Alex Chapla and Brittany Hayes to tie the set at 5-5. With the set tied at 8-8, the Red Foxes went ahead 11-8 on a Foss kill and a Hanna Stoiberg (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) service ace. Marist grew its lead to five at 14-9 on a Foss kill. Rider closed to within three at 16-13, but that would be as close as the Broncs would get. Marist took nine of the last 14 points to win the set 25-18. The Red Foxes hit .346 in the opening set.

Marist led the whole way in the second set, winning it 25-14. After a Hayes kill made the score 5-4 Marist, Kayla Burton (Kissimmee, Fla.) put down a kill that started a 10-2 run for the Red Foxes that made the score 16-6. A block by Schmid and Harridsleff capped off the Marist run. Rider took the next five points to cut the Red Foxes' lead in half, 16-11. After a Rider error made the score 21-14, Marist got kills by Schultze, Harridsleff, and Katie Estes (Saugus, Calif.) as part of a 4-0 run to end the set.

Rider (3-17, 1-8 MAAC) took a 1-0 lead in the third set on a Chapla kill, and that would be the Broncs' only lead of the set. Marist immediately went on a 10-2 run that included two Schmid aces, as well as kills by Harridsleff, Burton, and Foss. The Red Foxes took a 10 point lead at 15-5 on a Burton kill which capped a four-point run. Ahead 17-7, Marist won eight of the last nine points to win the set 25-8. The Red Foxes hit .364 in the final set, while Rider hit a -.174.

Marist had a 45-24 advantage in digs, while Rider had a 6-4 edge in blocks. Chapla and Kristy Love each had six kills to lead the Rider offense. Defensively, Amy Jearly led the Broncs with eight digs while Hayes had three blocks, two of which were solo blocks.

The Red Foxes will wrap up their weekend homestand Sunday at 2 p.m. at the McCann Center against Siena.
