NEWARK, N.J. - The Marist men's soccer team leveled its record at 6-6-1 overall and 2-2 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play after a 4-2 win over Saint Peter's on Sunday. Freshman Stephan Brossard (Port Washington, N.Y.) scored two goals in the match, while sophomore Lucas Szabo (Bethesda, Md.) tallied four assists in the match.

Defensively, junior Joe Pilla (Watertown, Conn.) made a career-high nine saves in goal to preserve the win for Marist.

"The quick start put us on the right page to get us the result we needed today," head coach Matt Viggiano said. "We needed six points this weekend and we got that. The two road wins sets us up for a big weekend coming up, with the match against Loyola this Friday."

The Red Foxes wasted no time, as Joe Touloumis (Cranford, N.J.) scored just 1:55 into the match. Szabo fed the ball behind the Peacocks defense, and found Touloumis for the first strike of the match.

After Saint Peter's tied the score at one in the fourth minute, Marist reclaimed a one-goal lead as Krystian Witkowski (Rochester, N.Y.) took a feed from Szabo in the box and drove it into the back of the net.

In the second half, Brossard scored two goals in the 50th and 67th minutes, respectively. His first goal came on a breakaway from 30 yards away, and he beat the keeper to the wide side. His second goal came from inside the box off passes from Witkowski and Szabo. Brossard leads the team with five goals this year.

The offensive output is Marist's largest this season, and is the second time this year that the team has strung together consecutive wins.

The Red Foxes return to action on Friday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m., at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field. Marist will take on Loyola in a MAAC match.
