NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - The Marist women's soccer team dropped its first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) on Sunday afternoon at Iona. The final score of the match was 1-0. Amber Blocher scored the game's only goal off a corner kick in the 64th minute.

Marist (5-4-2, 2-1-1 MAAC) put eight shots on goal led by freshman Jaclynn Sabia (Wayne, N.J.) who took three. The Red Foxes doubled up the Gaels in shots on goal, an 8-4 disparity. Additionally, Marist held an 8-6 edge in corner kicks including a 5-1 margin in the second stanza.

Jamie Balzarini (Holbrook, N.Y.) made three saves in goal for Marist.

Marist will return to action next Friday, Oct. 9, on the road against Loyola in a MAAC contest. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
