BALTIMORE, MD. - The Marist women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at Loyola in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) contest on Friday afternoon at Geppi-Aikens Field. The Greyhounds scored the match's only goal in the final minute of the first half as Nicole Schiro headed a Taylor Santypal cross from the right side.
The Red Foxes and Greyhounds played evenly in the first half, with Loyola (8-4-2, 4-0 MAAC) holding an 8-6 edge in shots. Marist's two shots on goal both came in the first half off the feet of seniors Kate Fox (Franklin, Mass.) and Alexandra Lauterborn (Farmingdale, N.Y.).
Junior Jamie Balzarini (Holbrook, N.Y.) made three saves in goal for the Red Foxes, while Brittany Henderson got the win for Loyola. She made three stops for the host Greyhounds.
Marist (5-5-2, 2-2-1 MAAC) will return to the pitch on Sunday, Oct. 11 as it concludes a four-game road trip at Rider. First touch is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Lawrenceville.
