POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist women's tennis team has strung together consecutive victories and improved to 2-1 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) on Thursday, as they defeated the Siena Saints, 5-2 in a conference dual match. The Red Foxes got wins from senior Kayla O'Donovan (Lynbrook, N.Y.).
Lukin has Marist's individual longest winning streak, as she has won three straight after she defeated Jennifer Messing at sixth singles. The final score was 6-0, 6-1. All of her wins have come in straight sets this season.
Colon got a win at third singles, as she defeated Lauren Moy, 6-0, 6-2 to earn her first MAAC victory of the season. Colon competed at third singles.
In fourth singles, Byron took a straight set victory from Jessica Asselin, 6-4, 6-3.
At fifth singles, O'Donovan has won consecutive matches as she defeated Nicole Ross on Wednesday, 6-2, 7-6 (5).
Marist also won the doubles point for the first time this spring. The Red Foxes got wins at second doubles from Emily Zampello (Kingwood, Texas) and Byron, as they prevailed 8-6 over Jasleen Sandhu and Nicole Ross.
At third doubles, Lukin and Joanna Macaluso (Stormville, N.Y.) also took an 8-6 decision from Messing and Asselin.
Marist will continue its four-match homestand on Saturday at 11 a.m. when they Saint Peter's in a MAAC dual match.
