POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Marist Director of Athletics Tim Murray announced the hiring of Jon Clancy as Head Strength & Conditioning Coach on Tuesday. Clancy is a 1994 graduate of the United States Military Academy who comes to Marist with a wealth of experience in strength and conditioning and personal training.

"I'm excited to have someone of Jon's academic and leadership background directing our Strength & Conditioning program," Murray said. "I'm confident he will have a great impact with our student-athletes and the success of our programs."

Clancy competed as a member of West Point's triathlon team from 1991-94. He graduated with a B.S. in Psychology while minoring in Systems Engineering. Clancy then served five years in the United States Army following graduation, achieving the rank of Captain. He received Army commendation medals as a Battalion Personnel Officer and Brigade Liaison Officer.

After working from 1999-2002 in the private sector, Clancy co-founded Clancy Fitness System, a self-operated personal training practice in Poughkeepsie. He served as Strength & Conditioning Coach at SUNY Cortland for the 2007-08 season, and was Strength & Conditioning at Strength in Motion training center in Syracuse this past year.

"This is an incredible opportunity to come back to the Hudson Valley and coach at Marist," Clancy said. "Marist Strength & Conditioning will give Red Fox student-athletes the chance to be their best."
