CORVALLIS, ORE. - The Marist men's soccer team stopped a two-game skid on Friday night at the Hensor/Zaher Memorial Classic. The Red Foxes defeated Seattle University, 3-1 at Oregon State University. Sophomores Krystian Witkowski (Rochester, N.Y.) and Lucas Szabo (Bethesda, Md.) scored one and two goals respectively.
Witkowski opened the scoring in the seventh minute. Marist padded its lead in the 17th and 29th minute, behind two goals from Szabo. His first goal came off a pass from junior Joe Touloumis (Cranford, N.J.). The three goals scored by the Red Foxes in the first half were the most in a period by the team this season.
Defensively, junior Joe Pilla (Watertown, Conn.) made five saves for the Red Foxes, four of which came in the first half.
Marist will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 27 as the team concludes play at the Hensor/Zaher Memorial Classic. The Red Foxes will play Oregon State. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m., ET.
