POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The Marist men's basketball team was defeated for the fourth straight game on Monday, as the Red Foxes dropped an 84-62 contest to Rider in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game at the McCann Center. Freshman guard Devin Price (Inglewood, Calif.) dished out a career-high nine assists against just one turnover, and was tied for the team lead in scoring with 11 points.
Price scored in double digits for the sixth consecutive game. Fellow freshmen Rob Johnson (Atlanta, Ga.) and Candon Rusin (Surf City, N.C.) matched Price's point total. Junior forward Korey Bauer (Whitehall, Pa.) grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
Rider's Ryan Thompson led all scorers with 21 points. The Broncs shot .542 from the field and drained 12 three-pointers in 25 attempts (.480). Four Rider players scored in double digits, as Jhamar Youngblood added 17 off the bench, and Mike Ringgold and Patrick Mansell chipped in 11 apiece.
Rider led by as much as 23 in the first half and took a 49-28 halftime lead. The Broncs went on a 25-6 run over a span of 8:58 in the first half, as they expanded their lead from 4-23.
Rider led by as much as 35 in the second half. The Red Foxes outscored the Broncs 12-2 over the final 4:50.
Rider is now 10-8 overall and 3-3 in the MAAC; Marist fell to 1-15 overall and 1-5 in MAAC play.
Marist will return to action on Friday, when the Red Foxes travel to Loyola for a MAAC contest that will air nationally on ESPNU. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
