BALTIMORE, Md. -- Despite a career-high 21 points from freshman guard Sam Prescott (Philadelphia, Pa.), the Marist men's basketball team suffered a 68-61 loss in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game at Loyola on Friday. Prescott shot 8-for-10 from the field, 3-for-3 from three-point range and 2-for-2 from the free-throw line in 30 minutes off the bench.

Prescott became the first Red Fox to score 20 points in a game this season, and the first since Ryan Schneider had 21 at Niagara on March 1, 2009.

Freshman guard Devin Price (Inglewood, Calif.) and red-shirt freshman forward Dorvell Carter (Bronx, N.Y.) joined Prescott in double digits. Price scored 11, giving him seven consecutive games with at least 10 points. Carter finished with a career high of 10 points and a team-leading seven rebounds.

The first half included eight lead changes and four ties. With 4:25 remaining in the first half, Loyola's Shane Walker drained a three-pointer to give the Greyhounds a 30-28 lead. Loyola never trailed the rest of the way, and took a 36-34 halftime lead.

With 13:40 to play, a three-pointer by Robert Olson gave Loyola its largest lead of the game at 51-41. Marist answered by going on a 12-2 run, which culminated in a game-tying three-pointer by Prescott with 7:59 to go. However, a tip-in by Loyola's Jawaan Wright with 6:31 left put Loyola up 55-53, and the Greyhounds kept the lead the remainder of the game. The Red Foxes scored just three points over the final 3:15.

Olson led Loyola (9-8 overall, 2-5 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) with 20 points, 16 of which came in the second half. J'hared Hall added 16, and Tony Lewis finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. Walker had eight points, six rebounds, six blocked shots and four assists, and Brian Rudolph had six points and six assists.

Loyola shot .532 (25-for-47) from the field, and .500 (13-for-26) from three-point range. Marist shot .415 (22-for-53) from the field. The Red Foxes shot .450 (9-for-20) from three-point range. Marist outrebounded Loyola 29-25 and committed 11 turnovers to the Greyhounds' 12.

Marist fell to 1-16 overall and 1-6 in the MAAC. The Red Foxes will return to action on Monday, when they host Niagara at 7:30 p.m.
