POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Despite a career-high 21 points from junior forward Korey Bauer (Whitehall, Pa.), the Marist men's basketball team suffered an 80-64 home loss to Loyola in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference on Saturday. Bauer also had a team-high seven rebounds in 36 minutes.

Brian Rudolph paced four Loyola scorers in double digits with 18. Robert Olson added 15, while J'hared Hall and Jawaan Wright scored 12 and 11, respectively. The Greyhounds shot .482 (27-for-56) from the field and .808 (21-for-26) from the free-throw line.

Loyola led wire-to-wire, as the Greyhounds hit 12 of their first 17 field-goal attempts to build a 31-17 lead with 10:28 remaining in the first half. The Red Foxes chipped away at the lead, and when freshman guard Devin Price (Inglewood, Calif.) hit a jumper with 1:24 left in the first half, the Red Foxes cut the deficit to 41-35. The Red Foxes entered halftime trailing by that same score.

With 16:33 left in the second half, a jumper by freshman guard Candon Rusin (Surf City, N.C.) cut Loyola's lead to three at 46-43. However, that would be as close as the Red Foxes would get, as Loyola answered with a 16-4 run over the next 6:21 to expand its lead to 15. Marist would cut the deficit to eight twice, but Loyola led by as much as 21 before the Red Foxes scored the final five points of the game.

Bauer was one of three Red Foxes who scored in double digits. Price finished with 12 to go along with five assists against just one turnover. Freshman forward Dorvell Carter (Bronx, N.Y.) scored a career-high 11 in 18 minutes, shooting 4-for-5 from the field and 3-for-4 from three-point range. In all, Marist shot 8-for-15 on threes.

Loyola held a 40-29 rebounding advantage, with Shane Walker leading the Greyhounds with eight. Both teams committed just five turnovers. Marist's turnover total is a season low, and marked the second straight game the Red Foxes have committed fewer than 10 turnovers.

Loyola is now 10-10 overall and 3-7 in the MAAC. Marist is now 1-19 overall and 1-9 in the MAAC.

Marist will return to action on Thursday at Iona. Tip-off for the first meeting of the season between the Red Foxes and the Gaels is set for 7:30 p.m.
