Marist Men's Basketball Dealt 79-60 Loss By Siena

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist men's basketball team lost a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference home game to Siena on Saturday at the McCann Center by a score of 79-60. Junior forward Daye Kaba (Cergy, France) scored a career-high 17 to go along with a team-high five rebounds.

Bauer shot 8-for-13 from the field, while Kaba was 7-for-11 with a pair of three-pointers. Freshman forward Rob Johnson (Atlanta, Ga.) gave the Red Foxes three scorers in double digits with 10. Freshman guard Devin Price (Inglewood, Calif.) had eight points and seven assists to go against just one turnover while playing all 40 minutes for the first time in his career.

Siena's Alex Franklin led all scorers with 22, and Ryan Rossiter had 16 points to go along with a game-high 10 rebounds. Franklin was 8-for-9 from the field, while Rossiter was 6-for-6 as the Saints shot .604 (29-for-48) for the game. Edwin Ubiles and Clarence Jackson added 15 and 11, respectively, for Siena. Ronald Moore had 11 assists against two turnovers in 36 minutes.

Siena led the contest wire-to-wire. The Saints scored the first five points of the game and led by as much as 12 in the first half. However, a jumper by Johnson with 28 seconds left in the first half cut Siena's lead to 37-30. Ubiles answered with a jumper at the buzzer to give Siena a 39-30 lead going into halftime.

Marist got as close as four in the second half when freshman guard Candon Rusin (Surf City, N.C.) had a steal and a breakaway layup to make the score 41-37 in favor of Siena. The Saints answered with a 10-0 run in the next 3:13, which culminated in a three-pointer by Jackson, and they never led by less than 10 the rest of the way.

Marist shot .460 (23-for-50) for the game. The Red Foxes were outrebounded 30-21, and committed 12 turnovers to Siena's 13.

Siena improved to 19-4 overall and 12-0 in the MAAC; Marist is now 1-21 overall and 1-11 in conference play.

Marist will return to action on Friday with a nationally-televised game at conference rival Manhattan. The contest will air on ESPNU and will tip off at 9 p.m.
