EDISON, N.J. - For the second time this season, freshman Kiersten Anderson (Scotia, N.Y.) was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, it was announced Tuesday. Anderson's eighth place finish at the Metropolitan Championships on Friday at Van Cortlandt Park marked the fourth time this season that she was Marist's top finisher.
Anderson completed the 5,000-meter course in 18:49, finishing 23 seconds ahead of Iona's Tara Jameson, who was the next closest MAAC finisher in 13th place. A total of 134 runners competed in the women's race.
As a team, the Red Foxes finished sixth overall out of 15 teams competing in the meet, tallying 185 points on the day.
Prior to her eighth place finish on Friday, Anderson has been Marist's top finisher at the Marist Invitational, Fairfield Invitational, and Paul Short Run this season.
Anderson and the Red Foxes will return to action on Saturday, October 16 when they travel to Albany, N.Y. to compete in the UAlbany Invitational.
