LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - The Marist men's soccer team defeated the Rider Broncs on Friday night in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) contest Friday night at Alumni Field. Sophomore Stephan Brossard (Port Washington, N.Y.) tallied two goals, including the game-winner, while junior Krystian Witkowski (Rochester, N.Y.) added a goal also.
Brossard's two goals added his team-leading total to eight this season and Witkowski has tallied seven goals during the 2010 season. In the game, seniors Joe Touloumis (Cranford, N.J.) and Mike McGowan (Oxford, Conn.) each tallied an assist.
"This was a solid effort," Head Coach Matt Viggiano said. "I thought we especially dominated the first half, and at the end of the day we got our result."
In the 35th minute, Witkowski scored on a 10-yard shot into the bottom corner of the goal off a pass from sophomore Anthony Rozmus (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.). Witkowski has totaled seven points in the last two matches, while Rozmus has notched a point in consecutive outings.
With a 1-0 lead in the second half, Brossard extended the lead to two goals in the 55th minute. However, Rider cut the lead back to one goal 1:02 later with a strike of its own.

Defensively, senior Joe Pilla (Watertown, Conn.) made two saves for Marist (8-7, 3-3 MAAC).The Red Foxes outshot the Broncs 17-10, and held a 5-0 edge in corner kicks.
Marist returns to the pitch on Sunday, Oct. 31 when it takes on Loyola at 1 p.m. at Ridley Athletic Complex in Baltimore, Md.
