WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Marist women's tennis team won its first dual match of the 2010 spring season on Sunday as it defeated NJIT 4-3 at the Litchenberg Tennis Center on the campus of the United States Military Academy on Sunday. The top three singles players for Marist collected wins to help in the effort, as the Red Foxes improved to 1-2 on the season.

Freshman Kelsey Raynor (Garden City, N.Y.) won at first singles in straight sets, over Nina Mayevska, 6-3, 7-6 (10-8). Sophomore Erin McCarthy (Salem, N.J.) also won in two sets. She took a 6-4, 6-1 decision from Ana Lidon.

At third singles, Joana Sun (Gales Ferry, Conn.) went the distance and won a three set match. She prevailed over Isha Toor, 6-7, 6-3, 6-0.

Marist will return to the courts during its trip to Orlando, Fla., as it takes on the University of North Dakota on Monday, March 15.
