POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Powered by a sweep of the doubles point and five singles victories, the Marist women's tennis team moved to 4-0 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference after a 6-1 win over Niagara at the East Campus Tennis Pavilion on Saturday. The Red Foxes won their third straight match and improved to 6-7 on the season behind five double-winners.

Sophomore Kayla O'Donovan (Lynbrook, N.Y.) in doubles to defeat Solis and Brittany Walters 8-4. O'Donovan won her singles match as well. She defeated Emma Cunnington 6-2, 6-2 at the fourth spot in the lineup.

Marist's pair of freshmen, Kelsey Raynor (Garden City, N.Y.) and Joana Sun (Gales Ferry Conn.) each won their respective singles matches and teamed up for a doubles win at the top spot. Raynor gutted out a three-set win over Hilary Hansen, 3-6, 6-4, 10-7, while Sun disposed of Alyssa Lucas 6-0, 6-4. The pair has won its last three singles matches. Raynor and Sun defeated Hansen and Lucas in doubles, 8-3.

Junior Retta Byron (Scottsdale, Ariz.) rounded out the singles victories for the Red Foxes with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Julia Gray at the sixth spot. Byron also teamed up at third doubles with junior Jeannie Lukin (Kinderhook, N.Y.) as the pair garnered an 8-5 decision over Cunnington and Gray.

The Red Foxes have won their last three matches and will return to the courts on Sunday, April 11 at 10 a.m. when they host the Colgate Raiders for a dual match. The contest will be held at the East Campus Tennis Pavilion on the campus of Marist College.
