POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist Athletics Department released the 2010 men's and women's cross country schedules on Monday. Under the direction of 20th-year director of cross country and track and field Pete Colaizzo, the Red Foxes will run in 10 meets during the fall, and will open the season as they host the Marist Season Opener at Bowdoin Park for the third straight season.
Marist is the two-time defending champions of the Marist Season Opener. The Red Foxes will welcome Fairfield, Saint Peter's and Siena to Bowdoin Park on Saturday, Sept. 4 in Poughkeepsie.
After an idle weekend, the Red Foxes will resume action on Saturday, Sept. 18 at the Brother Doyle Meet of Champions hosted by Iona. The meet will be held at Van Cortlandt Park. Marist will next travel to the Fairfield Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 25.
During the month of October, Marist will participate in five events. On Friday, Oct. 1, the Red Foxes will compete in the Paul Short Run at Lehigh University. Marist will then return to Van Cortlandt Park for the Metropolitan Championships exactly seven days later, on Oct. 8.
The Red Foxes will split into two squads on Saturday Oct. 16. Select runners will race at the Penn State National Meet, while others will compete at the Albany Invitational.
The month of October concludes with the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships. The race will be contested at Hammonasset State Park in Madison, Conn. The conference championship will be contested on Oct. 29.
Marist will return to Hammonasset State Park 15 days later for the NCAA Regional meet. Student-athletes who qualify will race in the Regional on Saturday, Nov. 13.
The men's and women's cross country schedule concludes with the IC4A/ECAC Regional Championship at Van Cortlandt Park on Saturday, Nov. 20.
