Marist Women's Soccer Drops 3-0 Decision At Army To Begin Black Knight Classic

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Marist women's soccer team dropped its second straight match, a 3-0 decision to the Army Black Knights on Friday night during the 2010 Black Knight Classic. The Black Knights, who are ranked 10th in the Mid-Atlantic Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, got a goal and assist from Erringer Helbling in the contest.

Army (5-1) got on the board in the 33rd minute when Julia Stallard and Helbling worked a give-and-go. Helbling finished on the play with her first marker of the season. The Black Knights took a 1-0 lead into the locker room.

Kim An tallied Army's second goal of the contest in the 49th minute. She finished a header off a cross from Erringer Helbling.

For the match, Marist (1-4) and Army each took 18 shots apiece; however, the Red Foxes only put four on target, as opposed to the Black Knights 10. In goal, Marist senior Jamie Balzarini (Holbrook, N.Y.) made seven saves.

Marist will wrap up play at the 2010 Black Knight Classic on Sunday morning. The Red Foxes will take on Florida Gulf Coast at 11 a.m. at Mitchell Field.
