BRONX, N.Y. - The Marist men's cross country team placed 15th overall at the Iona College Meet of Champions on Saturday afternoon at Van Cortlandt Park. Making his collegiate running debut in the five-mile distance, freshman Ken Walshak (Babylon, N.Y.) placed 62nd overall with a time of 26:25.28 to lead the Red Foxes.
As a team, the Red Foxes earned 404 points, edging out Manhattan which finished 16th with 429 points. LaSalle won the race, finishing with 93 points.
Junior Nick Webster (Latham, N.Y.) finished 91st with a time of 26:47.22.
Rounding out the top five finishers for the Red Foxes were seniors Patrick Duggan (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) and Zachary Smetana (Niskayuna, N.Y.) who ran times of 26:57.98 and 27:08.38, respectively.
Marist will return to action on Saturday, September 25 when they travel to Fairfield, Conn. to compete in the Fairfield Invitational.
