EASTON, PA. - The Marist women's soccer team put forth a dominant performance in its 1-0 win at Lafayette's Oak Stadium on Sunday. Sophomore Jamie Balzarini (Holbrook, N.Y.) earned her third clean sheet of the season, and made two saves in the match. As a team, the Red Foxes outshot the Leopards 12-3 in the match.

Balzarini notched her 10th career shutout at Marist, and now needs just four to claim a share of the all-time record. Currently the record is held by Mellanie Nai, who played for the Red Foxes from 1999-2002.

Sabia tallied her first goal of the season and seventh in her career. A Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Rookie Team selection a season ago, Sabia is now tied for 10th on Marist's career goals list.

The marker came in the 51st minute when Sabia scored from the left corner of the box from 10 yards away. The tally was unassisted.

The Red Foxes dominated the first half of play, and boasted a 7-0 advantage in shots. Marist (3-5) was quite accurate with its attempts, forcing Leopards goalkeeper Lauren Smedley to make six saves in the frame.

For the match, Marist held a 2-1 edge in corner kicks. Lafayette put just two shots on goal, both of which were taken by Machenzie Moore. The Leopards fell to 4-4 with the loss.

To date this season, all three of the Red Foxes' victories have been 1-0 decisions. Marist has defeated Stony Brook and Florida Gulf Coast.

With the win Marist wraps up a four-game road trip, its longest of the season. The Red Foxes will return to action on Friday, Sept. 24 at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field when they face their third straight Patriot League foe in Bucknell. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
