FAIRFIELD, CONN. - Having to overcome an unseasonably hot and humid afternoon, the Marist men's cross country team finished fifth overall in the Fairfield Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Kevin O'Sullivan (Virginia Beach, Va.) was the top overall finisher for Marist, placing 17th overall with a time of 27:53.26 in the 8,000-meters
The Red Foxes finished with 125 points overall on the day, placing ahead of John Carroll, New Haven, and Bridgeport. Fairfield placed first overall, finishing with 32 points on the afternoon.
Junior Ryan Brown (Monroe Township, N.J.) turned in a strong performance for Marist, posting a time of 28:19.12 and a 23rd overall finish. Freshman Isaiah Miller (Middletown, N.Y.) and junior Brian Townsend (East Setauket, N.Y.) rounded out the top-30 finishers for the Red Foxes, posting times of 28:35.11 and 28:46.13, respectively.
The Red Foxes return to action on Friday, October 1, when they travel to Bethlehem, Pa. to compete in the Paul Short Run.
