SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Marist men's swimming and diving team fell in their regular season finale Saturday at Seton Hall by a score of 182.5-108.5. Coming in against a 8-2 Pirates squad, the Red Foxes were faced with a tough task. Seniors Joshua Sklanka and Brian Bolstad were more than ready to face off with their Big East counterparts as both of them collected two victories. Senior Steven Vendetta also collected a win at the meet.
Bolstad (Highland, N.Y) swept both boards in dominate fashion on Saturday. He was victorious in the 1-meter with a score of 317.55 and in the 3-meter with a score of 353.70. In both events, Bolstad defeated his nearest competitor by at least 135 points.
Sklanka (Watertown, Conn.) was victorious for the Red Foxes in both freestyle sprints, the 50- and 100-yd. In the 50-yd. event, he held off teammate Keith Miller (Missoula, Mont.) to win with a time of 21.69. In the 100-yd. event, it was another Sklanka-Miller top two finish, as he won with a 47.70 time.
Vendetta (South Windsor, Conn.) collected Marist's fifth victory of the meet. He was victorious in the 200-yd. freestyle race with a time of 1:43.88. Later in the day, Vendetta also helped Marist's effort with a second place finish in the 500-yd. freestyle. He completed the race in a time of 4:47.96.
The Red Foxes will have the next two weekends off before starting postseason competition at the MAAC Championships on Thursday, February 17 in Buffalo, N.Y.
