POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The #21/24 Marist women's basketball team cruised to its 21st straight victory after a 79-38 blowout at Saint Peter's in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) contest on Monday night in the Yanitelli Center. Sophomore Kelsey Beynnon (Burlington, Vt.) scored a career-high 13 points on 6-for-10 shooting. With the win, the Red Foxes clinched the top seed in the upcoming Spark Energy MAAC Basketball Championship.

Senior guard Erica Allenspach (Miamisburg, Ohio) also scored 13 points and made three three pointers. She also posted a career-high seven steals. Junior guard Kate Oliver (Sydney, Australia) finished the game with three assists, a game-high four blocks and a steal.

Saint Peter's jumped out to a 7-2 lead at the 15:28 mark as Jynae Judson hit two of the first three baskets for the Peahens.

With 14:30 to play in the first half, Marist (25-2, 16-0 MAAC) opened up a 22-0 run over a span of 11:08 to take a 29-9 lead. Six different Red Foxes scored points during the run including seven from Beynnon and five from Allenspach and senior guard Élise Caron (Quebec, Canada). Caron finished the game with nine points.

Marist held Saint Peter's without a field goal for the final 14:42 of the first half. Teresa Manigrasso hit four free throws in the final 2:29 of the stanza. After a Beynnon bucket dropped with 46 seconds to play, the Red Foxes held a 33-13 lead at halftime. It was the third time this season Marist allowed just 13 points in a half, which equals the fewest points allowed in a single period this year.

Judson broke the field goal drought at the 18:01 mark of the second half. The stretch of 15:31 included 26 consecutive missed field goals for the Peahens.

The Red Foxes used a 12-0 run over a span of 2:35 in the second half to grow the lead to 32 points, 52-30. Junior forward Brandy Gang (Hartville, Ohio) scored five points during the run and capped the stretch with a triple with 14:04 to go. A Yarde three-pointer with 13 minutes to play put Marist ahead by 30 points for good. The score following the triple was 55-32.

Beynnon gave the Red Foxes their largest lead of the game, a 44-point advantage, 79-35 with 42 seconds left. Beynnon's layup allowed her to eclipse her previous career-high. Judson hit a three with 17 seconds left, to arrive at the final score of 79-38.

Marist shot 30-for-63(47.6 percent) from the field in the game and made 10 three-pointers in the game. The Red Foxes won the battle of the boards 41-36 and dished out 21 assists on 30 baskets. Marist scored 36 points in the paint and the reserves scored 37 points.

Judson led Saint Peter's with 10 points as the Peahens fell to 3-24 overall and 3-13 in MAAC play.

Marist will play its final road game of the 2011 season on Friday night at Siena. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. in Loudonville.

Notes: Beynnon scored a career-high 13 points and hit a career-high six field goals... Allenspach notched a career-high seven steals... The Red Foxes equaled a season-low in points allowed with 13 in the first half against the Peahens... For the seventh straight year, Marist will be the top seed in the MAAC Tournament... Marist leads the all-time series with Saint Peter's 18-15... The Red Foxes have won 11 in a row over the Peahens and 17 of the last 19 overall... Marist is 6-9 all-time at Saint Peter's. All of the wins have come since 2004.
