Box Score

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Marist baseball team defeated George Washington by a score of 17-9 on Friday, giving the Red Foxes their ninth consecutive victory. Every Marist starter had at least one hit as the Red Foxes pounded out 19 hits in the contest.

Junior designated hitter Bryce Nugent (Binghamton, N.Y.) added three RBIs and two hits.

Sophomore left-hander Dan Zlotnick (Katonah, N.Y.) earned the victory. Zlotnick went the first innings and allowed five runs. He struck out five and did not walk a batter as he ran his record to 4-0.

The Red Foxes started the scoring with three runs in the top of the first, all of which came with two outs. A two-run single by Shank brought home sophomore first baseman Ricky Pacione (Newburgh, N.Y.). Nugent then singled to score Shank.

George Washington scored once in the bottom of the first, but Marist took a 5-1 lead with a two-run rally with two outs in the third. Helmrich doubled to score senior center fielder Michael Gallic (Tolland, Conn.), and after freshman right fielder Pat Welsh (Millersville, Pa.) kept the inning going with a bunt single, McQuail singled to bring home Gallic. The Red Foxes never led by less than three runs the rest of the way.

Marist is now 12-3 on the season.

Marist and George Washington will continue their three-game series tomorrow. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
