Final Stats

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Marist women's tennis team fell in their matchup with Quinnipiac University late Saturday in a neutral court matchup at West Point, N.Y. The 3-2 Red Foxes were looking to extend their three match winning streak on the young season. Unfortunately for Marist, Quinnipiac started out fast taking the double point and collected another five team points in singles to win by a score of 6-1. Marist was led by sophomore Kelsey Raynor (Garden City, N.Y.) who collected two victories on the afternoon.

A winner in her no. 1 singles and doubles matches, Raynor first teamed with sophomore Joana Sun (Gales Ferry, Conn.) to cruise to victory in doubles by a score of 8-5 over Quinnipiac's Markison and Cantor. In her second match of the day, she faced off with Rachel Cantor. After winning the first set with a tiebreaker by a score of 7-6 (7-5), she finished off the win with a 6-2 second set.

In a losing effort, freshman Marielle Campbell (Patterson, N.Y.) went to a tie-breaking third set in her no. 4 singles match. After winning the first set 7-5, Campbell dropped the second 6-3. In the tiebreaker, Quinnipiac's Sarah Viebrock outlasted Campbell by a score of 11-9.

Marist will return to action on Sunday, March 13 as they begin their four match in three day spring break trip to face-off with Florida A&M and Western Illinois on day one in Orlando, Florida.
