Box Score

BRONX, N.Y. - The Marist women's tennis team were victorious in their matchup with Fordham on Saturday by a score of 5 to 2. After falling to Mother Nature three to love in their past three attempts to play after Spring Break, the Red Foxes were anything but rusty as they took victories in all, but two matches versus the Rams. Junior Erin McCarthy (Salem, N.J.) and sophomore Kelsey Raynor (Garden City, N.Y.) led the Red Foxes with two victories.

Playing no. 1 singles, Raynor defeated Mia Fiocca by a score of 6-0, 4-6, 10-7. In no. 1 doubles she teamed with sophomore Joana Sun (Gales Ferry, Conn.) to defeat Fiocca and Tremaine 9-2.

McCarthy found success in the no. 2 singles as she beat Sarah Tremaine in straight sets without dropping a point, 6-0 and 6-0. In doubles, freshman Marielle Campbell (Patterson, N.Y.) joined McCarthy as they were victorious versus Fritzinger and Boyle, 9-8 (7-2).

Senior Jeannie Lukin (Kinderhook, N.Y.) joined in the winning as she defeated Jenny Mullen in straight sets at no. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-0.

Marist will return to action on Monday, April 4 as they host Rider in their first home and first MAAC match of the season. Competition is set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
