BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Marist men's cross country team competed in the Gold Race at the Paul Short Run on Friday, held at Lehigh University. Competing against several nationally-ranked teams, three Marist runners finished in the top 70 of the event.
Senior Matthew Flint (Queensbury, N.Y.) led the Red Foxes by placing 46th overall, as he completed the five-mile course in 25:09. Senior William Griffin (Columbia, Conn.) and junior Arquimedes DelaCruz (Wantagh, N.Y.) placed 66th and 68th, respectively. This trio broke into the scoring pack of several ranked teams.
As a team, Marist placed 22nd out of 45 teams. Five of the top six team finishers are ranked in the nation's top 25.
The Red Foxes will return to action next Friday at the Metropolitan Championships, which will be held at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The race is slated for a 2:30 p.m. start.
