PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Marist men's and women's crew teams competed at the Murphy Cup on Saturday, coming away with good results, including the Women's Novice Eight boat winning their heat and finishing fourth overall.
The team of Annie Devorak, Stephanie Moriarty, Kristin Wilson, Stacy LaRose, Megan Romer, Samantha Blau, Amanda Khoury, Elizabeth Hehir and Samantha Cilo finished their heat in a time of 8:23.19 to beat out boats from St. Josephs, Navy, George Mason and Pittsburgh.
In the final, the Red Foxes improved their time by seven seconds to 8:16.02, good for fourth place, just 13 seconds behind first-place Drexel.
The Men's Novice Eight boat of Cameron, Schuh, Michael Florie, Dan Nesfeder, Jacob Enright, Conor Wiggins, Matt Klos, Sam Baines, Chris Lorenz and Ignacio Borbolla also advanced to their respective finals, finishing third in their heat with a time of 6:58.63. They improved by two seconds in the final at 6:56.39, good for fifth overall.
Both crew teams will be back in action next Saturday, March 31 when they go to Storrs, Conn. to compete against Connecticut, Trinity and USCGA.
