Marist's Cammie Jones Honored By Dutchess Chamber Of Commerce

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Marist Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Enhancement Cammie Jones has been honored by the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce as a "Forty Under 40" recipient of a Shaker Award.

Shaker Awards are presented annually to 40 people under the age of 40 who have shown a strong commitment to the Hudson Valley, and was selected by the Dutchess Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with previous Forty Under 40 honorees.

"I am humbled by the award, and am very thankful for the opportunities I have been able to be a part of here in the Hudson Valley," Jones said.

Jones is in her second year at Marist, as she was hired in June of 2010. Her responsibilities include academic advisement of probationary student-athletes, assisting in the development and implementation of the Student-Athlete Affairs and gender-equity programming in the areas of leadership, career development, and community service, as well as coordinating the nomination of student-athletes for academic awards and honors. She has also been a guiding force behind the formation of the LEAP (Ladies Empowering Athletics Program), and she currently serves as the advisor and coordinator of the program.

Jones is also extremely active within the community. Her community outreach efforts include the Special Olympics, Girl Scouts, Mid-Hudson Children's Museum, Astor Services for Children & Families, Junior League of Poughkeepsie, and toy drives with the Dutchess Country Chamber of Commerce. She is also a member of the Hudson Valley Young Professionals Group.
