POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist Athletics Department, in conjunction with the Red Fox Club, will officially start the 2012-13 athletic season with their Fall Kickoff Weekend on Friday, September 7 and Saturday, September 8. During this weekend Marist will host its annual Barbecue-On-The-Hudson and Red Fox Trot 5K, while also opening its home football schedule against Bucknell.
The weekend will start on Friday evening as the Athletics Department hosts Marist fans on the banks of the Hudson River for the Barbecue-On-The-Hudson. At the barbecue, fans will be introduced to the 2012-13 men's and women's basketball players and coaching staffs.
The event starts with a social hour 5 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner. The cost of the barbecue is $30, and all proceeds benefit Marist student-athletes. To reserve your spot, contact Janet Davis by phone at 845-575-3304.
The festivities will continue the very next morning as Marist teams up with the Red Fox Club to host the Red Fox Trot 5K. This road race takes runner on picturesque tour of the Marist campus that is completely free from vehicular traffic.
The race will start and finish on the banks of the Hudson River as runners can take in all the beauty that the Hudson River Valley has to offer. Runners will receive race admittance, an official Marist Red Fox Trot long sleeve t-shirt (first 300 only), two tickets to a Marist basketball game and refreshments after the race.

The Fall Kickoff Weekend will culminate on Saturday evening as Marist football opens its 2012 home campaign as the Red Foxes host Bucknell at 6 p.m.

Be sure to stick around after the game as Legion Fireworks will host a fireworks display for fans. The display will be launched from the McCann Baseball Field, so fans in Tenney Stadium will have the best view of the show.
