Junior free safety James Holodnak (North Royalton, Ohio), who made his first career start, and sophomore defensive end Landon Moore (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) tied for the team lead with six tackles apiece. Moore had one-and-a-half stops for a loss of yardage.

After Davidson took an 8-3 first-quarter lead, Onakoya's 14-yard touchdown run with 2:54 left in the first quarter gave Marist the lead for good. Lucas' one-yard touchdown plunge with 5:52 left in the second quarter gave the Red Foxes a 15-8 lead. Onakoya then burst through the middle for a 41-yard touchdown run, which put Marist up 21-8 with 11:35 left in the third quarter.

Looney's first touchdown pass of the game came with 13:22 to play, when he found junior wide receiver Matt Tralli (Croton, N.Y.) in the back right corner of the end zone on a fourth down for a 16-yard touchdown. Davidson answered with a score on the ensuing drive, but Looney found Leneghan for a 44-yard touchdown pass down the right sideline with 4:40 to go. Gibson's touchdown closed out the scoring.

For Davidson, wide receiver Jeff McDaniels scored both of the team's touchdowns, and caught eight passes for 87 yards. Williams Morris caught 11 passes for 86 yards.
