Women's Soccer Falls To Monmouth, 1-0

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Marist women's soccer team saw its first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) loss in four games on Saturday evening, falling to Monmouth, 1-0. The Red Foxes move to 6-3 in conference play. Junior goalkeeper Andrea Wicks (East Northport, N.Y.) recorded seven saves for Marist in an impressive defensive effort.

The Hawks struck first, scoring in the 33rd minute of the game. Erica Murphy one-touched a corner kick from Dana Costello to take a 1-0 lead. The Red Foxes were able to hold Monmouth to just one goal for the remainder of the game. Marist attempted five shots but were unable to hit the back of the net. Senior Rycke Guiney (Naperville, Ill.) and junior Amanda Epstein (Jericho, N.Y.) posted one shot on goal each for the Red Foxes. The score went final as the Hawks defeated Marist, 1-0.

Marist returns home for its final regular season game and senior night on Wednesday, Oct. 23 against Iona. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Tenney Stadium. Admission is free and open to the public.
