BRONX, N.Y. – The Marist men's cross country team placed fifth at the IC4A Championships, University Division today at Van Cortlandt Park.
Sophomore John Lee (Wading River, N.Y.) finished first for the Red Foxes. Lee earned IC4A All-East honors, finishing with a time of 26:34.9. The first five runners finishing for Marist, completed the course within 20 seconds of one another, the best of the 2013 season. Sophomore Charlie Ropes (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) finished second for Marist (26:43.4), senior Ryan Scrudato (Westfield, N.J.) claimed third for the team (26:45.0), junior Bryan Buttigieg (Massapequa, N.Y.) placed fourth for the Red Foxes (26:50.6), and junior Mark Valentino (Smithtown, N.Y.) took fifth for Marist (26:56.8).
Marist finished with 173 points, ahead of conference rivals Fairfield, Siena, and Manhattan. The host of the competition, Fordham University, won the event with 77 points.
