BOSTON, Mass. – The Marist women's basketball team defeated Boston University on Saturday, 76-65. Sophomore Madeline Blais (Exeter, N.H.) had another career game, posting 27 points and eight rebounds, shooting 10-14 from the field, 5-6 from three-point range, and 2-2 from the free-throw line. Senior Leanne Ockenden (Syracuse, N.Y.) posted 18 points, matched a career high eight rebounds and had a team high three steals. Senior Emma O'Connor (Lynbrook, N.Y.) recorded a career high 12 rebounds and five assists. In her 2013-14 debut, senior Casey Dulin (Milford, Conn.) recorded 14 points and six assists.

Marist is currently on a four game winning streak. The Red Foxes have also won five of their last six games.

The Terriers opened up the game on a 5-1 run to lead after just one minute of play. Marist responded with a 10-2 run, including five points from Ockenden and Blais to take an 11-7 lead with 16:15 remaining in the first half. The next three minutes would see three tied scores as Boston and Marist went basket for basket. The rivals were tied 16-16 with just over 13 minutes to play in the half.

The Terriers outscored the Red Foxes 11-6 over the following three minutes to hold a 27-22 lead with 10:04 remaining in the period, its largest lead of the first half. Blais and Dulin responded with two points apiece to cut the deficit to just one with 9:02 left. Boston pulled ahead by five, 36-31, with 5:57 left to play in the half. Marist closed the opening half of play, outscoring the Terriers 5-2 to trail 38-36 heading into the locker room.

The Red Foxes opened up the second half with threes from Blais, Sophomore Sydney Coffey (Hopkins, Minn.), Dulin, and Ockenden to pull Marist ahead 50-41 with 14:21 remaining in regulation. Boston's Clodagh Scannell posted two threes followed by two threes from Danielle Callahan to pull the Terriers within seven with under nine minutes remaining. Blais hit her second three of the half to extend the Red Fox lead to 10 with 8:45 to go. Boston was never able to recover despite scoring closely with Marist to end the game. The Red Foxes outscored the Terriers 16-15 to secure its 76-65 victory.

With the win, Marist moved to 5-4 overall and maintains its 1-0 record in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). The Red Foxes return home on Wednesday, Dec. 18 against Northeastern. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at McCann Arena. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here.
