Ashleigh Huckins Resigns As Marist Water Polo Head Coach

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Marist has announced that Ashleigh Huckins has resigned as the head coach of the Marist water polo team. A national search for Huckins' replacement will begin immediately.

Huckins took over as the Red Foxes' head coach prior to the 2008 season. In her six seasons, she compiled a 129-92 overall record, including a 53-11 mark in conference play. She won three Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships from 2008-2010 and guided Marist to its first NCAA Tournament victory, 16-11 over Cal Lutheran, in 2009. The following season, the Red Foxes won their second NCAA Tournament game, defeating Pomona-Pitzer by a 6-5 score.

In her first season at the helm, Huckins led Marist to a program record 27 wins while going a perfect 10-0 in the MAAC. In three of her six seasons, Huckins' teams won at least 20 games and reached double digits in wins in conference play.

“I would like to thank Ashleigh for the great leadership she has shown as Marist's head water polo coach,” Marist Director of Athletics Tim Murray said. “She has done a great job continually building our young program. I wish her and her family continued success as I am sure her coaching career is far from over.”
