Marist led Canisius 21-12 at the 9:20 mark, fueled by six points from Dulin and four points from Coffey. Two straight layups by redshirt junior Tori Jarosz (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) and followed by a three by O'Connor increased the Red Fox lead to 12 (26-14) with 7:30 to play.
Blais and O'Connor had back-to-back drives to the basket to move ahead, 30-17 at the 5:20 mark. Three successful shots at the line between senior Leanne Ockenden (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Coffey, split by a jumper by Griffs' Jen Lennox, gave Marist a 33-21 edge with 4:00 to go. Marist closed the half with two straight layups by Coffey and O'Connor but Canisius ended the half in style as Jen Morabito hit a three at the buzzer. Marist posted 17 rebounds, including 12 defensive and five steals in an impressive guarding effort during the first half.
