POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. ? The Marist women's basketball (10-4, 4-0 MAAC) defeated Siena (6-7, 1-3 MAAC) 78-60 on Tuesday evening for its ninth straight win this season. With the victory, the Red Foxes have won 35 consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) contests and remain undefeated in conference play this season.

Senior Emma O'Connor (Lynbrook, N.Y.) led all scorers with 16 points, six rebounds five assists, and a team-high two blocks. O'Connor shot 5-6 from the field and 6-7 from the free-throw line. Sophomore Madeline Blais (Exeter, N.H.) posted 13 points and six rebounds. Sophomore Sydney Coffey (Hopkins, Minn.) and redshirt junior Tori Jarosz (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) contributed 12 points apiece. Senior Leanne Ockenden (Syracuse, N.Y.) matched a career-high twice tonight with eight rebounds and half of the teams ten steals with five. Senior Casey Dulin (Milford, Conn.) tied with O'Connor for a team-high five rebounds.

Siena's Ciara Stewart scored the opening basket for the Saints, taking an early 2-0 lead, their only lead of the half. Marist quickly responded with a 14-0 run, fueled by two threes by Coffey and two layups by O'Connor. Siena attempted redemption with a short 6-0 run to make it 14-8 at the 10:20 mark. The Red Foxes got back into rhythm, posting a 19-3 run over the next six minutes to triple the Saints, 33-11, with four minutes to play in the half. Siena outscored Marist 9-6 over the final minutes, including five points from Kanika Cummings, but it wasn't enough to catch up as the Red Foxes led the Saints 39-20 at the half.

Blais scored the first four points of the second half to keep Marist on top, 43-20. Siena outscored the Red Foxes 6-3 over the next two minutes to make it 46-28 with 16:20 remaining. A 7-1 run by Marist, including three points from Coffey and two apiece from Blais and Ockenden, increased its lead to 24 with just over 13 minutes to play. Siena banked two consecutive threes to pull within 18. Marist brought the lead back up to 22 with a combined perfect 4-4 trip to the free-throw line by Ockenden and O'Connor to earn a 57-35 advantage at the 10:40 mark.

Over the following five minutes, Siena was able to out-pace the Red Foxes, edging Marist 16-11 to pull within 16 with four and a half minutes to play. In the final minutes, Marist and Siena would shoot basket-for-basket but it wasn't enough as the Red Foxes claimed a 78-60 victory over Siena, remaining undefeated in conference play.

Following this matchup, Marist heads to Connecticut for its first road game since Dec. 14. The Red Foxes will face Fairfield on Saturday, Jan. 11. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
