Marist Football to Host Jacksonville

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Coming off of a 27-20 victory over Campbell, the Marist football team (2-6, 2-3 Pioneer Football League), are set to host first-place Jacksonville (7-1, 5-0) in a PFL contest on Saturday. Kickoff is set for noon.

This will be the last of a three-game homestand before the Red Foxes travel to Stetson next week. Fifth-year senior captains Atiq Lucas (Coram, N.Y.) and Mike Kagafas (Akron, Ohio) received PFL honors for their performances against Campbell. Lucas was named Co-PFL Offensive Player of the Week after rushing for 104 yards and three touchdowns. Kagafas, who was named Co-PFL Defensive Player of the Week, had seven tackles, three stops for loss, as well as a sack, forced fumble, and pass break-up.

Senior free safety Zach Adler (Walden, N.Y.) led the Red Foxes with nine tackles. Junior cornerback Zachary Quarles (Upper Marlboro, Md.) recorded six tackles of his own, as well as an interception returned four yards for a touchdown.

Senior wide receiver Matt Tralli (Croton, N.Y.) had nine receptions for 67 yards. Senior wide receiver Joe Tralli had four receptions for a team-high 84 receiving yards.

Jacksonville comes into the game undefeated in the PFL, defeating Limestone 61-10 in its last outing. In their seventh straight win, the Jacksonville offense recorded 651 offensive yards and junior Andrew Hooks returned an interception 95 yards for a touchdown. This return was the second longest in school history. The Dolphins average over 514 yards per game in conference play and have beaten their last seven opponents by an average of 22 points. They have not lost a game since their season opener at Southeastern Louisiana, which is ranked 15th in the Football Championship Subdivision.  

Geoff Brault (play-by-play) and Ed Weir (color) will have the on the Red Fox Network, WKIP 1450 AM and iHeartRadio beginning at 11:45 a.m. Video will be available on the Red Fox Network for a subscription fee, and audio online will be free.

Next week, the Red Foxes travel to Stetson for a contest on Saturday, November 8. Kickoff is set for 3 pm.
