POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist men's swimming and diving team suffered its first dual meet loss of the season, falling to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rival Rider, 185-115, on Nov. 15 in McCann Natatorium. The Red Foxes are now 3-1 overall and 2-1 in MAAC meets.
Sophomore Ryan Murphy (New Fairfield, Conn.) competed in four events, winning the 1,000-yard freestyle in 9:37.59. He finished second in the 500-yard event, clocking in at 4:39.28.
The 200-yard butterfly belonged to senior Jason Ruddy (Lake Katrine, N.Y.), as he won the event in 1:57.11. He placed second in the 100-yard butterfly (51.83 seconds) and 200-yard IM (1:56.23) while also being a member of the runner-up 200-yard medley relay team. Senior Dylan Cummings (Midland Park, N.J.) posted a time of 52.89 seconds to earn a victory in the 100-yard backstroke.
Junior Josh Dodway (Niskayuna, N.Y.) was victorious in both diving events for the Red Foxes. Dodway's 318.00 points were nearly 30 points ahead of the rest of the field in the 3-meter dive. He edged Rider junior and reigning MAAC Men's Diver of the Week Wayco Bailey on the 1-meter board, racking up 274.87 points to Bailey's score of 270.15 points.
The Red Foxes' next competition will be the H2ounds Invitational on Dec. 5-6 in Baltimore, Md. Marist will square off against Loyola and a pair of MAAC rivals in Saint Peter's and Iona. The meet will kick off at 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday's action will begin at 10 a.m.
