HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Marist women's tennis team fell to Hofstra in a non-conference match on Tuesday afternoon, 5-2. Sophomores Karly Pang (Kaneohe, Hawaii) and Katie Seitz (Pennington, N.Y.) each picked up a singles win for the Red Foxes. Seitz and sophomore Lisa Ventimiglia (Bayside, N.Y.) also notched one doubles win for Marist.
Pang picked up Marist's first singles win of the afternoon against Sarah Bowen in three sets, 6-4, 2-6, 10-2. Freshman Callie Morlock (Golden, Colo.) fell to Louise Lopez in second singles, 6-1, 6-1. Senior Marielle Campbell (Patterson, N.Y.), was topped by Carmen Pestano, 6-3, 6-0. Sophomore Melissa Carlay (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision to Giulia Leone. Sophomore Nikki Rohan (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) fell to Bianca Derrick, 6-2, 6-2. Sophomore Katie Seitz (Pennington, N.Y.) earned Marist its other lone singles win over Bianca Posa, 0-6, 6-4, 10-7.
Hofstra picked up two of the three doubles matches on the afternoon. The duo of Pang and Morlock fell to Bowen and Pestano, 8-3. Sophomore Kaye Eastman (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Carlay were topped by Lopez and Derrick, 8-4. Seitz and Ventimiglia defeated Leone and Posa, 8-3.
The Red Foxes return to action on Wednesday, April 9 at Quinnipiac. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
