POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Red Foxes dropped a tough non-conference game to the Delaware Blue Hens at McCann Arena on Saturday night. Despite leading for nearly half the night, including a 12-point advantage with 5:33 remaining in the game, Marist was unable to hold on and fell by a final score of 70-69.

Junior Khallid Hart led the Red Foxes with a season-high 31 points on 9-for-16 shooting, four assists and zero turnovers. Sophomore K.J. Lee contributed eight points and two rebounds, while sophomore Connor McClenaghan finished the night with six points, three rebounds and a career-high four assists.

Delaware had four players with double-digit points, led by redshirt senior Marvin King-Davis with 20 on 6-for-11 shooting to go along with 10 rebounds. Kory Holden chipped in with 19 points and four assists.

The Blue Hens out rebounded Marist 44 to 25, including 13 offensive boards to the Red Foxes' five. Delaware shot .434 (23-for-53) from the field, including .375 (6-for-16) from behind the arc. Marist shot .396 (21-for-53) from the field and .393 (11-for-28) from three point range.

The Blue Hens jumped out to the early 10-5 lead with 13:55 left in the first half, but a 7-1 run by the Red Foxes over the next 2:53 gave the home team its first lead, 12-11, with 11:02 remaining. The lead changed hands five times before Delaware went in front, 18-17, with 5:59 left in the half. A 9-1 run over the next 2:41 brought the game to 26-18, the biggest lead of the game for the visitors. The Red Foxes answered back with an 8-0 run to end the half with the game tied at 26.

The beginning of the second half saw back and forth action with the lead changing hands four times before a three pointer by Hart gave Marist the 43-42 lead with 13:51 left in the game. A 22-11 run by the Red Foxes over the next 8:18 gave Marist a 65-53 advantage, its largest of the night with 5:33 left in the game. The Blue Hens answered back with a 13-3 run over the next 4:38, tying the game at 68 with 53 seconds remaining. A foul shot by Hart nine seconds later, put the Red Foxes back on top 69-68 with 46 seconds left but Delaware regained the lead, 70-69, on its next possession with a layup by Cazmon Hayes.

With 27 seconds remaining in the game, Marist brought the ball up the court before calling a timeout. A three pointer by Phillip Lawrence-Ricks with one second remaining was deflected short and a last-second attempt to save the ball by the Red Foxes was unsuccessful, as the ball went out of bounds with .2 seconds on the clock. Freshman Brian Parker stole the ensuing in bounds pass, but the clock expired before he could get off a shot, ending the game with Delaware on top 70-69. The loss dropped Marist to 2-6 while the win brought Delaware to 5-3.

Up next for the Red Foxes is a non-conference road game at Army West Point at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, before the Christmas break.
