BOSTON, MASS. – The Marist women's tennis team fell to the University of Massachusetts, 7-0, Saturday afternoon at the Bay Road Tennis Center. The defeat is the Red Foxes third in a row to start of the spring session.
Junior Karly Pang (Kaneohe, Hawaii) returned to action after two matches off with an injury but was defeated in both doubles, teaming up with Claire Schmitz (Scotia, N.Y.), 6-4, and in singles, 7-5/6-3.
UMass took control of the match after sweeping the doubles matches to earn the first point and then sweeping all of the singles matches. The matchup against the Red Foxes was UMass' second match of the weekend, coming off a 7-0 victory over Army the day before to complete a perfect weekend for the Minutewomen.
Sunday's match against the Providence Friars was cancelled due to weather and the Red Foxes now have two weeks off and then return to action as they take on the Army women's tennis team at West Point, N.Y. on Saturday, Feb. 28 looking for their first win of the spring.
