In the third, redshirt sophomore right fielder Zachary Racusin (Mendham, N.J.) singled to right field allowing Brennan to score the first run of the game for the Red Foxes. Furman would add two more runs to their total in the bottom of the third extending its lead to 6-1. Marist would get its second run of the game in the fourth inning off a Laurino double to left centerfield driving in McIntire. Junior second basemen Matt Belitz (Ossining, N.Y.) scored on a wild pitch in the fifth inning to bring the Red Foxes within three runs down 6-3.

After a Furman run in the sixth inning Marist had a three run inning in the seventh behind a two run double from McIntire and a Laurino RBI off a single up the middle. Down 7-6 after the seventh Furman scored another run in the eighth inning to extend its lead to two. Junior left fielder Matt Pagano (Cranston, R.I.) scored a run on a fielding error by the Furman defense in the top of the ninth inning. Swertfager would drive in two runs off a single to right field to give the Red Foxes their first lead of the game at 9-8. Furman would tie the game up in the bottom of the ninth sending the game to extra innings. With two outs and nobody on in the bottom of the eleventh Furman catcher Andrew MacLatchie hit a home run over the left field wall to end the game.
