NIAGARA, NEW YORK – The Marist women's tennis team dropped their second Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match in a row as they fell to the Niagara Purple Eagles, 5-2, Saturday afternoon at the Niagara Tennis Courts. With the loss the Red Foxes fall to 4-12 overall and 4-3 in conference.
Junior Karly Pang (Kaneohe, Hawaii) and freshman Claire Schmitz (Scotia, N.Y.) teamed up to win the Red Foxes only double match of the day as they took down Niagara's Maria Ortiz and Paulina Velasquez, 8-5.
Pang and Schmitz carried their good play from doubles into singles as Pang defeated Niagara's Iva Celan and Schmitz took down Ashley Ta, both in straight sets, for the Red Foxes only single's wins on the afternoon.
The Red Foxes wrap up the season on the road against Monmouth on Monday, April 20th in West Long Branch, N.J.
