POUGHKEEPSIE, NEW YORK – The event started with a panel and ended with a walk as numerous student-athletes from Marist participated in the annual White Ribbon Campaign Walk, sponsored by the Center for Student-Athlete Enhancement and the purplethread.
Panelist Zach Quarles (VP for Athletic Affairs, SGA & Co-Captain, Marist Football), Danielle Helwig (President, the purplethread), and Jaklyn Van Manen (One Love Foundation) spoke with students before the walk about ending violence against women.
The panelist and student-athletes then took to the campus as they walked through campus spreading awareness on the cause and how to get involved.
The White Ribbon Campaign is the largest effort in the world of men working to end violence against women. The event was started on Marist's campus in 2008 by two football seniors who wanted to bring awareness to this issue.
