LAWRENCEVILLE, New Jersey - The Marist volleyball team fell to the host Rider Broncs, 3-1 (25-18, 23-25, 25-14, 25-17) on Sept. 26.
Senior Courtney Shaw led the Red Foxes with 11 kills alongside eight digs. Junior Lexi Millington sprawled for 20 digs and had two of Marist's five service aces in the contest.
Rider pulled away early in the opening frame after junior Amanda Schlegel's two service aces had tied the score at 7. Marist was able to even the match with the help of a .620 sideout percentage in the second set. A 10-5 run that saw multipled forced errors put Marist in front, 18-16, and the Red Foxes never trailed by more than one point. The Broncs would take the next two sets however.
In addition to her 12 kills in front, Rider junior Kaitlyn Griffin served up five aces. Most of the Broncs' assists came from sophomore Veronica Koval (26) and senior Brandie Hill (25).
Marist will face off against Saint Peter's at 1 p.m. Sept. 27 on its Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference New Jersey swing.
