LAWRENCEVILLE, New Jersey - The Marist men's basketball team dropped a double-overtime Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference contest at Rider on Thursday night by a score of 102-100.

Red-shirt junior guard Khallid Hart led Marist with 36 points. Freshman guard Brian Parker had 28 points, a career-high 13 rebounds and seven assists. Freshman swingman Kristinn Palsson scored 15. Senior center Eric Truog had 13 rebounds and six assists, both of which tied career highs.

Rider's Teddy Okereafor led all scorers with 38 points. He added eight assists and seven rebounds, and shot 25-for-30 from the free-throw line. Zedric Sadler scored 21 points off the bench, and Kahlil Thomas contributed 16 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.

Marist led for 38:34 of the game's 50 minutes. The Red Foxes scored the first five points, and jumped out to an 8-2 advantage. The Broncs stormed back to take the lead thanks to a 7-0 run, and the lead proceeded to change hands three more times in the next three minutes. With 4:18 left in the first half, a three-pointer by Isaiah Lamb gave the Red Foxes their largest first-half edge at 25-18. On the final possession of the half, a long left-wing three by Hart beat the buzzer, and gave Marist a 33-28 advantage after the first 20 minutes.

With 12:34 left in regulation, a three-point play by Hart gave Marist its largest lead of the game at 48-37.  Over the next 10 minutes, Marist never led by less than four. A three-pointer by Hart with 2:47 left gave Marist another 11-point advantage at 67-56.

From this juncture until the end of regulation, Rider scored points in 10 of its next 11 trips down the floor. The Red Foxes still led by seven until a three-point play by Thomas with 48 seconds left cut the Broncs' deficit to four. Shawn Valentine then stole the inbounds pass for the Broncs, and Sadler's putback after an offensive rebound cut Marist's lead to 72-70. On Marist's next three trips down the floor, Parker, Hart and junior center Kentrall Brooks all hit two free throws. However, baskets by Okereafor and Thomas, and a three by Sadler, meant that Marist's lead was down to 78-77 when Hart stepped to the line for two shots with nine seconds to play. He hit the first, but missed the second, and Okereafor's runner with 1.3 seconds left ended up sending the game to overtime at 79 apiece.

In the first overtime session, Rider was up four with 22 seconds left. A three-pointer by Palsson after an offensive rebound by Lamb sliced Rider's edge to 91-90 with 11.8 seconds left. Okereafor then split two free throws, and Hart was fouled on a drive to the basket with 3.2 seconds left. He swished both free throws, and after each team committed a turnover on its final possession, the game went to double overtime knotted at 92.

A bucket by Okereafor with one minute left in the second overtime gave Rider its largest advantage of the period at 100-96, but a long three by Hart on Marist's next possession made the score 100-99. Taylor then split two free throws with 14 seconds left. With the Red Foxes trailing 101-99, Hart was fouled on a drive with 1.4 seconds left. He made the first free throw, but missed the second. Okereafor then split two free throws with 1.2 to play, accounting for the final score of 102-100.

For the game, Marist shot .412 (28-for-68) from the field and .361 (13-for-36) from three-point range. Rider was .485 (32-for-66) from the field and .368 (7-for-19) from deep. Rider shot 5-for-6 from the field, 3-for-3 from three-point range and 10-for-18 from the line in the extra sessions.
