POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist women's basketball team picked up their sixth Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference win in a row with a 66-37 victory over the Siena Saints Thursday evening at McCann Arena. The win brings Marist to 10-11 (9-2 MAAC) while the loss drops Siena to 11-10 (8-3 MAAC). The Red Foxes 25th consecutive win over Siena gives the team sole possession of first place in the MAAC.

Tori Jarosz led the Red Foxes with her 16th double-double on the season with 19 points on 6-for-13 shooting from the field and 7-for-8 from the free throw line along with 16 rebounds and six blocks. At 8:30 of the third quarter, Jarosz picked up her fifth block of the game and the 163rd of her career, breaking the all-time program record which was held by Diesa Siedel.

Sydney Coffey scored 17 points on 4-for-8 shooting from the field, 3-for-4 from behind the arc and 6-for-6 from the charity stripe to go along with three rebounds and two steals.

Freshman Claire Oberdorf had a career high nine points on 3-for-5 shooting from the floor, and 2-for-3 from behind the arc, to go along with a career high seven rebounds and two steals.

Kollyns Scarbrough led the Saints with 11 points on 4-for-8 shooting from the field and 1-for-3 shooting from three to go along with two assists and two steals.

The Red Foxes shot .380 from the floor, .476 from behind the arc and .750 from the free throw line. Siena shot .226 from the field, five percent from behind the arc and .667 from the charity stripe. Marist outrebounded the Saints 48-33 and forced 17 Siena turnovers leading to 23 points for the Red Foxes.

The Saints 29 point loss ended in the biggest margin of victory for Marist in the series since February 6, 2014 when Marist defeated Siena on the road 78-39 (39 points). The 37 point output against Marist by Siena is the lowest since January 31, 2011 when the Red Foxes defeated the Saints at McCann, 60-30.

The Red Foxes locked in on defense early, jumping out to a 14-3 lead by the time the first media timeout hit with 3:56 remaining. The Saints started the game 1-for-8 and were forced into seven early turnovers thanks to the tenacious Marist defense. Coffey led the Red Foxes with 10 points in the first on 3-for-4 shooting from the field and 2-for-2 shooting from deep. Marist overall shot 60 percent from the field (6-for-8) and 6-for-10 from the free throw line as they headed to the second quarter with a 20-10 lead.

Both teams struggled to score in the second quarter as Siena's full court pressure disrupted the Red Foxes offense and Marist's half-court defense continued to confuse the Saints. A jumper from the top of the key by Jarosz with just over four minutes remaining in the half snapped a near three minute scoring drought for both teams and put Marist ahead 26-16 with 4:32 to go in the half.

The Red Foxes closed the half on an 8-0 run to take a 32-16 lead into the locker room. The Marist defense held Siena to just six points in the second quarter and 5-for-30 shooting overall in the half. Jarosz led the Red Foxes with 13 points and 12 rebounds in the half securing her 16th double-double of the season before halftime.

The Red Foxes started the second half on an 8-0 run pushing the Red Foxes lead to 24. Eileen Van Horn's three extended the run to 11-2 as the Red Foxes then took a 43-18 lead with 5:53 to go in the third. The Red Foxes ended the quarter with a 50-28 lead again holding the Saints to sub 30 percent shooting percentage in another quarter.

Up next the Red Foxes travel to wrap up their season series with the Rider Broncs in Lawrenceville, New Jersey on Saturday, January 30th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
