RIVERDALE, New York – The Marist women's soccer team earned a 3-0 win over the Manhattan Jaspers Wednesday evening in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action.
Goals from Tori Flaherty, Brianna Robinson and Keri Bradley proved to be the difference as the Red Foxes improved to 8-7-1 overall and 4-3-1 in conference play. With the loss the Jaspers drop to 5-9-1 overall and 3-4-1 in conference play.
Marist jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute when Flaherty knocked the ball into a gaping net after a header assist from Ashlee Burke. Camille Bowen earned the secondary assist after playing the ball into the box on a free kick.
The Red Foxes scored again in the 34th minute after a corner kick from Bowen found Robinson on the back post for the 2-0 lead.
In the 51st minute a run by Bradley down the middle of field led to her being dragged down in the box by the Manhattan defender. Bradley stepped up for the penalty kick and knocked it home to give Marist a 3-0 lead.
The Red Foxes finished the game with the edge in shots 15-14 and shots on goal 7-3. Makala Foley made three saves in goal for the Red Foxes earning the shutout. Jaspers keeper Olivia Printy made four saves in net for Manhattan.
Up next the Red Foxes take on Saint Peter's and celebrate Senior Night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Tenney Stadium.
