POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist volleyball team picked up its seventh win in the last eight matches on Sunday with a 3-0 victory over the Saint Peter's Peacocks.

With the win, Marist improves to 7-11 (7-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) while the loss drops the Peacocks to 0-14 (0-5 MAAC).

Nikki DeSerpa led the Red Foxes with nine kills, while Lexi Millington had a team high 13 digs, Kelsey Ediger led Marist with two service aces and Taylor van der Biezen had a match high 11 assists.

Marist jumped out to an early 7-1 lead in the first set before the Peacocks trimmed the deficit to 7-4. The Red Foxes took nine of the next 12 points, capped off by a service ace by Ediger and the lead was 16-7. Saint Peter's won three of the next four points to bring it to 17-11 but that was as close as they would get as Marist won seven of the next eight points to take the set 25-12.

The second set began much like the first as the Red Foxes jumped out to an early 8-2 lead before the Peacocks trimmed the deficit to 9-6. However, that was the closest they would get as Marist won 16 of the next 24 points for the 25-16 set win.

Up by two sets, the Red Foxes again jumped out to an early lead in the third set with an 11-4 advantage. Saint Peter's again climbed back into it winning five of the next seven but would only win five more points in the remainder of the set as Marist took the match with a 25-13 third set win.

Up next, the Red Foxes travel to Hamden, CT and a MAAC matchup with the Quinnipiac Bobcats on Saturday, Oct. 15th at 1 p.m.
