LOUDONVILLE, New York – With a 2-1 comeback win over the Siena Saints in the regular season finale Wednesday afternoon, the Marist men's soccer team clinches the #4 seed in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship. The Red Foxes will host host the #5 seed Canisius Golden Griffins in a quarterfinal match up on Saturday at Tenney Stadium at 7 p.m.

With the win, Marist finishes the regular season with an 11-6-1 (6-4 MAAC) record. The team's overall record is the best in head coach Matt Viggiano's tenure and the best in program history since 2003 (11-6-1).

"It was a tale of two halfs" said Viggiano. "I don't think we played our best in the first half but obviously in the second half we turned it up a couple notches and finally found a way to score. We showed a lot of character and it gives us a good vibe going into the playoffs...In the second half we just started winning the 50-50 balls. We started beating Siena to the ball and it seemed like we wanted it a little more and that just translated into results."

Cameron Harr and Connor Flatley each chipped in second half goals while Michael Lorello got the assist on Harr's goal. Mark Rajovic had 10 saves on the afternoon.

The Saints opened the scoring just eight minutes into the first half when a ball from midfield was played into the box. Rajovic came out to play the ball but it deflected off his hand and rolled toward the goal where Milorad Sobot was able to get a touch on it to knock it home for the 1-0 lead.

With the goal, Siena gained some momentum and had three or four chances in close toward the end of the half but Rajovic made key saves to keep it 1-0.

The Red Foxes struggled to generate many scoring chances or shots and the first half ended with Siena ahead 1-0, 13-3 shots and 9-3 in shots on goal. Rajovic finished the half with eight saves, the most in one half for him this year.

The second half proved to be a completely different game as Marist came out motivated to end their season on a strong note. Marist generated possession and kept the ball in the offensive side of the field for the majority of the half but were just unable to find the final touch for a goal.

With 12 minutes remaining, the Red Foxes finally found the equalizer when Lorello possessed the ball on the left side and found Harr, who ripped a shot that found the far corner to tie the game at 1-1.

Forty three seconds later, Marist took the lead when Harr found Flatley in the box. Flatley's initial header was saved but he was there to put away the rebound for the 2-1 lead.

With less than 10 minutes left in the game, the Saints pressed for the equalizer and nearly found it when a long ball was played to their forward who found space inside the box with a defender on his back. The player tried a turnaround shot but it sailed just high of the goal for a goal kick.

As time wound down, the Red Fox defense stood strong keeping the ball outside the box and down in the offensive side of the field. With less than a minute left, Siena tried one last time to tie it up but were unable to generate a shot and time expired with Marist victorious 2-1.

Up next, the Red Foxes will host the #5 seed Canisius Golden Griffins in a quarterfinal match up on Saturday at Tenney Stadium at 7 p.m..
